Types of chemical reaction with examples

1. Combination reaction
Definition: a reaction in which two or more reactants combined to form a single compound is known as combination reaction.
Example: h2 + O2   = 2H2O
             C + 202 = 2CO2

2. DECOMPOSITION REACTION
DEFINITION: A REACTION IN WHICH A SINGLE REACTANT IS DECOMPOSED TO FORM TWO OR MORE THAN TWO PRODUCT IS KNOWN AS DECOMPOSITION REACTION.
EXAMPLE: 2H2O = H2 + O2
              Caco3 = cao + h2o

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF DECOMPOSITION reaction:-

A. thermolytic  decomposition  reaction
Definition: a reaction in which a single compound decomposes with the help of heat energy is known as thermolytic  decomposition reaction.
Example: caco3 = cao + h2o
Pb(no3)2 = 2pbo + 4no2 + o2

B. Electrolysis decomposition reaction
Definition: the reaction in which a single compound  is decomposes into two or more products is known as electrolytic decomposition reaction.
Example: 2h2o = 2h2 + o2
                2nacl = Na + cl2

C. Photolytic decomposition reaction
Definition: a reaction in which a single reactant is decomposes into two or more product is known as photolytic decomposition reaction.
Example: 2agcl = 2ag + cl2
              2agbr = 2ag + br2

3. Displacement reaction
Definition: a reaction in which a highly reactive metal displaces a low reactive metal from its compound is known as Displacement reaction .
Example: Zn + hcl = zncl2 + h2
             Fe + cuso4 = feso4 + cu

There are two types of displacement                   reaction

a. single displacement reaction

              same as displacement reaction

b. Double displacement reaction

DEFINITION: REACTION INVOLVES EXCHANGE OF IONS BETWEEN THE REACTANTS IS CALLED DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT REACTION.

EXAMPLE: BaCL2 + CUSO4 = BaSO4 + CUCL2
               Cuso4 + h2s = h2so4 + cus
